Hormel Foods has been recognized as a remarkable company by many organizations including Corporate Responsibility (CR) magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens List. We are also proud of the many honors we have received regarding our efforts to recruit veterans.
We are proud of the recognition we have received from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), which includes the Patriotic Employer Award. Hormel Foods has been recognized for its efforts to support ESGR in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Hormel Foods has also been recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly Employer in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The company has been named a best employer for veterans for the third year in a row by Military Times on their 2015 Best for Vets: Employers list as well as one of the Most Influential Companies for Veteran Hiring by Profiles in Diversity Journal. Hormel Foods is also participating in the VetFriendly 50,000 jobs challenge, working with other employers to hire 50,000 veterans and military spouses by 2018.
Two Hormel Foods employees and veterans were profiled in Meat & Poultry, a national publication for meat and poultry processors. In the article “Enlisting Veterans,” employees share how they have successfully applied skills they built in the military at Hormel Foods. Another Hormel Foods employee and military veteran also highlights how military skills translate into the business world at a recent military job fair.
Our Beloit, Wis., plant was recognized for its record of hiring veterans by the secretary of Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development. Hormel Foods has also partnered with key national organizations such as Fisher House Foundation to support military scholarships and Wounded Warrior Project to raise awareness for returning wounded veterans.
Hormel Foods continues to support the Fisher House Foundation, this year the company donated Easter meals for more than 1,000 people at 29 houses. We are honored to continue supporting veterans and their families.
Although Hormel Foods is well known for providing 100 million pounds of SPAM® Classic to keep our World War II troops nourished, our partnership with the military extends far beyond this. We're a place where veterans can use the skills they cultivated in service to our country in a work environment—to continue making a difference in the lives of others.
