Hormel Foods Donation Helps Fight Hunger in Los Angeles and Oakland

Farmer John and Saag’s, the local subsidiaries owned by Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL), announced today a donation of $20,000 to help fight hunger in Los Angeles and Oakland, Calif. and their surrounding communities.

Donations of $5,000 will go to the Davis Street Family Resource Center, the Alameda County Community Food Bank, Midnight Mission and the St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels.

“It is our privilege to support these great organizations and help their efforts in the fight against hunger in our community,” said Robert L. Jones, vice president of human resources at Farmer John. “Our employees and the company are excited to continue fighting hunger in our area.”

“We are committed to helping those in need in our community,” added Michael J. Tye, general manager at Saag’s. “Our employees are proud to do our part to help these organizations feed families.”

Farmer John and Saag’s also donated a total of $20,000 to these organizations in 2014 and in 2015.

For the sixth consecutive year, Hormel Foods is giving funds to U.S. manufacturing facilities to share with nonprofits in their respective communities to fight hunger. In 2015, Hormel Foods donated $400,000 to local hunger relief organizations in 40 U.S. communities where it has manufacturing facilities, bringing the program’s total contribution to local hunger relief efforts to more than $1 million thus far. In 2016, the company will provide 40 plant locations with funds to continue the program.

Hormel Foods is helping those in need both in the United States and internationally through its On Our Way to Ending Hunger program.
