Jennie-O Turkey Store, Inc., based in Willmar, Minn., is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL) and is one of the largest turkey processors and marketers in the world. We are an industry-leading processor and marketer of traditional and value-added turkey products for retail, foodservice and deli markets. We offer an array of high-quality fresh, frozen, refrigerated and deli turkey products. Jennie-O Turkey Store produces more than 1,500 items, distributing our products throughout the United States and 26 countries. Jennie-O Turkey Store currently employs more than 7,000 people throughout the United States.
Jennie-O Foods was founded in the 1940s by Minnesota native Earl B. Olson who purchased his first turkey processing plant in 1949 in Willmar, Minn. The company he named after his daughter Jennifer prospered quickly, and Jennie-O Foods was acquired by Hormel Foods in 1986.
In 1922, The Turkey Store began when Wallace Jerome started his business of raising turkeys at just 13 years old. He bought a three-story barn in 1941 to serve as his plant, and by 1952 the company was the first federally inspected, oven-ready turkey processing plant in Wisconsin.
What started with the vision of two entrepreneurs has turned into one of the world’s largest processors and marketers of turkey products.
