Environmental Commitment

We take pride in our stewardship and responsible use of our soil, air and water by implementing programs to protect these resources where we operate, both for today and the future.
Environmental Commitment

The Hormel Foods Environmental Excellence program requires our engineering team to audit nearly 40 facilities using a strict 15-page checklist that monitors numerous items including air emissions, energy use, and solid waste and recycling.
Awards and Recognition

The American Meat Institute awarded 26 of Hormel Foods' locations with Environmental Recognition Awards, which recognize a company's dedication to Environmental Management Systems development and implementation as a member of the meat and poultry industry.

Hormel Foods Receives Environmental Honors
Hormel Foods Corporation and subsidiaries received the most environmental awards in company history as part of the American Meat Institute’s (AMI) Environmental Recognition (MAPS) program in 2006.
Twenty-three MAPS awards recognized various locations’ efforts to develop and use Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in our daily operations. Our environmental training program and wastewater system improvements at the Alma Foods plant in Alma, Kan. also earned the first-ever Environmental Achievement awards. Different from the MAPS program, the achievement awards recognize companies that go beyond compliance. Both the MAPS and the achievement awards were announced at AMI’s annual meeting Oct. 4, 2006 in Hollywood, Fla.
