Positively Proud

People | Pride of the Jersey

A self-proclaimed people person, Kristi Callahan is right at home in HR

One of the team members who enjoyed the privilege of wearing the Hormel Foods jersey in 2019 is Kristi Callahan, a human resources assistant for Dan’s Prize. She’s a familiar face at the Long Prairie, Minn., location – and with good reason – according to HR Manager Doug Kloth.

“Kristi is a dynamic employee who can be counted on day in and day out to take care of HR administrative issues,” he said. “She helps everyone, from the newest employees at Dan’s Prize all the way to the vice president of operations.”

Lending a hand to that many team members sheds light on Kristi’s special skill. If she’s learned anything in her 24-plus years with the company, it’s how to shift gears “on a dime,” Doug said.

“Kristi can change priorities … and still complete the tasks timely and accurately,” he said.

She’s no stranger to the Cultural Beliefs of Hormel Foods, either. In particular, she shines when it comes to Results Matter and Challenge Yourself, Doug added.

Kristi found a home at Dan’s Prize after finishing school in her hometown of Browerville, Minn. She started in the company’s shipping department and moved to HR 15 years ago. A self-described “open book,” Kristi lives for family time. In addition to watching her three daughters’ (ages 4 to 21) sporting events, she likes to escape to the family’s hunting land and go four-wheeling.

She brings the same brand of enthusiasm to work, appreciating her coworkers – the best part of her job – as much as they do her.

“She’s a very positive person,” Doug said. “I wouldn’t know what to do without her.”
