Hormel Foods Announces Winners of 10th Annual Holiday Card Contest

Austin, Minn.

Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) today announced the winners of the company’s annual Holiday Card Contest for the children of employees.

The winning artwork will be used as the 2016 holiday card images to send seasonal greetings to thousands of Hormel Foods customers and contacts, and was selected by representatives of the Hormel Foods executive team.

The grand-prize winner in the contest is Madison Diercks, and the runners up are Rachel Kuhnke and Sophia Pfeiffer.

“Congratulations to Madison, Rachel and Sophia on their winning entries, and thank you to everyone who entered the Holiday Card Contest,” said Jim Snee, president and chief executive officer of Hormel Foods. “We are proud to use these images for our holiday cards and to showcase the talent of our employees’ children.”

Madison is in ninth grade and is the daughter of Brooke Diercks and Jeff Diercks, quality and process control manager at Rochelle (Ill.) Foods. Madison created her artwork using acrylic paint, and the card is titled “Winter Night.”

Rachel is in third grade and is the daughter of Laura Kuhnke and Kyle Kuhnke, production manufacturing manager of cured and smoked meats, Refrigerated Foods, at the company’s Corporate Office (Austin, Minn.). Rachel created her artwork using acrylic paint and construction paper, and the card is titled “Holiday Lights.”

Sophia is in fourth grade and is the daughter of Sonja Pfeiffer and Joe Pfeiffer, relief supervisor, Grocery Products, at the Beloit (Wis.) Plant. Sophia created her artwork using tempera and finger paints, and the card is titled “Poinsettia Stripes.”

A $500 donation is being made to a nonprofit organization in honor of Madison’s winning entry, and organizations named by the two runners up will each receive a $100 donation. These donations are sent directly to the organizations, which are typically schools, and are applied to the cost of art materials, art supplies or art education classes.
