Hormel Foods Donation Helps Fight Hunger in Willmar

Willmar, Minn.
Jennie-O Turkey Store also donated funds to this organization in 2013.
The Willmar Area Food Shelf provides the opportunity for neighbors to come together through donations, fundraising, food drives, and volunteering to provide for the hungry. They are committed to help those in need with an open mind and finding innovative ways to respond to poverty with respect and dignity.
“It is our privilege to team up with the Willmar Area Food Shelf to help support the fight against hunger in our community,” said Matt Schrupp, plant manager, Jennie-O Turkey Store’s Willmar Avenue Plant. “Our employees are eager to support neighbors and friends to help end hunger in our backyard.”
For the fifth consecutive year, Hormel Foods is giving funds to U.S. manufacturing facilities to share with nonprofits in their respective communities to fight hunger. In 2014, Hormel Foods donated $390,000 to local hunger relief organizations in 39 U.S. communities where it has manufacturing facilities, bringing the program’s total contribution to local hunger relief efforts to nearly $1 million thus far. In 2015, the company will provide 39 plant locations with funds to continue the program.
“We’re committed to fighting hunger in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Julie H. Craven, vice president of corporate communications at Hormel Foods. “Last year was a record year in terms of community hunger donations, and we are confident that 2015 will be equally as impactful.”
Hormel Foods is helping those in need both in the United States and internationally through its On Our Way to Ending Hunger program. The company collaborates with retailers, nonprofits and the government on hunger relief efforts; nourishes the hungry in the U.S. and abroad; and motivates individuals and corporate partners to take action to fight hunger.
