A Week of Giving Across Minnesota

What a week for generosity, teamwork and impressive turkey logistics. Our Hormel Foods and Jennie-O teams showed up in a big way across Minnesota, bringing holiday cheer and thousands of turkey breasts to families who need them most.

On Tuesday, the third annual Minnesota Wild (Minnesota’s professional hockey team) and Jennie-O Turkey Giveaway turned Aldridge Arena in Maplewood, Minnesota, into a hub of gratitude. From 1 to 4 p.m., fans lined up to receive free JENNIE-O® turkey breasts, complete with gravy packets, while supplies lasted. To make things even more fun, our very own JT — the JENNIE-O® brand mascot — joined the excitement at Saturday’s Wild vs. Ducks game. He greeted fans, handed out swag and even took a spin on the Zamboni.

Willmar’s Hometown Turkey Takeover: 5,000 Reasons to Smile

In the Jennie-O hometown of Willmar, the team partnered with the Kandiyohi County Food Shelf, Cashwise and other community organizations to pull off the largest community turkey donation event the area has ever seen. The drive-through-style Hometown Turkey Takeover provided 5,000 JENNIE-O® turkey breasts to area families, helping ensure access to high-quality lean protein for holiday meals. A huge thank you to everyone who helped, especially those who kept the traffic moving.

Austin Spreads the Love: 10,000 Turkey Breasts for Mower County.

Meanwhile in Austin, the Hometown Food Security Project and Hormel Foods worked together to distribute 7,000 turkey breasts during Saturday’s Turkey Takeover event. Another 3,000 turkey breasts were delivered throughout Mower County to organizations committed to reducing food insecurity. Thanks to support from Hy-Vee, families picked up canned goods to round out their holiday meals. Community giving was in full force, and the impact was felt throughout the county.

In total, our team members helped distribute more than 20,000 turkey breasts across Minnesota this week. Thank you to every team member, partner and volunteer who made this week of giving possible. Happy Thanksgiving season!
