A Company Built on Feeding Communities for Generations

June 9, 2026

Impact

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, we’re reflecting on 135 years of helping feed the nation and bring people together.

Hormel Foods has grown alongside America—standing with people and communities through periods of growth, challenge and change.

We have nourished families, supported those who serve and invested in the communities where people live and work. This long-standing commitment to accessible, convenient food has remained constant even as the country—and the way people eat—has evolved.

Rooted in Austin, Minnesota

Hormel Foods remains deeply connected to Austin, Minnesota, where the company was founded in 1891. Our global headquarters continues to operate in Austin, and that connection is demonstrated through local employment, philanthropy and strong community partnerships.

While we have evolved into a global food company, our founding values continue to guide how we support communities and how team members show up for one another every day.

Supporting the Nation in Moments That Matter

Throughout our history, Hormel Foods has helped meet the country’s needs during pivotal moments. During both World War I and World War II, we supported employees who served and helped supply food to civilians and troops. Between 1940 and 1945, the equivalent of more than 133 million cans of SPAM® products were produced to support those efforts, an enduring example of the company’s role during a critical time in history. Today, that legacy is preserved and shared through the SPAM® Museum in Austin, Minnesota, connecting past generations with present-day visitors.

More recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we played an essential role in maintaining the food supply while supporting team members, communities and hunger relief efforts across the country, reinforcing our commitment to showing up when it matters most.

Continuing to Evolve with American Food Culture

As tastes, traditions and lifestyles evolve, Hormel Foods continues to innovate while staying rooted in the role food plays in bringing people together. From new product experiences to reimagining familiar favorites, the company’s portfolio reflects both our heritage and forward-looking approach. That evolution shows up in both everyday staples and new ideas, like the SPAM® Dog, a reimagining of a classic American favorite.

In addition, we use seasonal and limited-time offerings to mark key occasions and connect with consumers. This summer, we will offer select limited-time products, including limited-edition HORMEL® BLACK LABEL® Bacon packaging at major retailers and two new exclusive PLANTERS® flavors, Ranch and Sweet Cayenne BBQ, available at Walmart.

Part of America’s Story

Hormel Foods remains focused on what has defined our company since its founding: feeding people, supporting communities and adapting to meet the needs of each generation.
