The Iconic Little Blue Can
We kicked off the year with a cozy and nostalgic merch collection that brought fashion and food to life. The makers of the SPAM® brand launched a limited-edition line of apparel and accessories with food and travel creators, Ewa and Jeromy Ko of Nom Life. Beyond the can, many fans enjoy wearing SPAM® brand merchandise and regularly request new items, which made it an easy call for the SPAM® brand team to partner with Nom Life to share more comfort and versatility.
We introduced our first new SPAM® brand flavor since 2015 with SPAM® Maple Flavored, bringing the brand’s family of varieties to 11 flavors. With its delicious combination of sweet and savory, SPAM® Maple Flavored ushers in a unique and mouthwatering addition to breakfast menus, outdoor barbeques and one-of-a-kind desserts. When the August wildfires first broke out on the island of Maui, the team behind the SPAM® brand responded with a donation of cash and product with a retail value of more than $1M to directly help those impacted by the devastation. The donation included more than five truckloads of SPAM® products to help feed people in need. The brand team also sold specially designed T-shirts on its website, pledging 100% of all proceeds to the Aloha United Way Maui Fire Relief Fund. All proceeds were donated to the Aloha United Way and its Maui Fire Relief Fund to continue to aid the disaster-response effort in meaningful ways, from providing hunger relief and transportation assistance, to supporting other services, like crisis counseling and healthcare consultation. To date, shirt sales have produced $160,000 in total proceeds.

Applegate, the nation’s leading natural and organic meat brand, revealed its first-ever lineup of “Feel Good” Pros, a panel of industry experts called together by the brand to help consumers stay in a “feel good” mindset through food, movement and nutrition. To help you level up your gameday snacks, we launched the first-ever HORMEL™ Chili Cheese Brew, a sippable beer inspired by the dippable chili cheese dip. The perfect chip dip partner – an effervescent and flavorful HORMEL™ Chili Cheese Brew – was created by teaming up with brewers at award-winning, Minneapolis-based Modist Brewing Co. to create an unexpected sip inspired by everybody’s favorite dip. With a little bit of madness and a serious amount of chili-inspired spices, the beer was ready in time for fans to enjoy when watching the Big Game.
We’ve always known MR. PEANUT® is a good sport, but watching the Big Game commercial featuring the PLANTERS® brand mascot get a roasted by a team of comedians ahead of a full-length special on game day convinced us he’s truly an icon.

In nearly 100 years of NUTmobiles, arguably none have been as inviting as the glow-up into a “rundown” dive bar. Columbus Craft Meats achieved a new a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest charcuterie board. In partnership with Boarderie and several other partners, the tasty and historical experience took place in Palm Beach and coincided with an episode filming of Shark Tank. The incredible charcuterie board, which spanned an entire ballroom and weighed over 1,000 pounds, featured our craft salumi alongside artisanal cheeses, delicious nuts and jams. The team also provided an array of Perfect Charcuterie Bites for attendees to enjoy throughout the evening.
The brand also launched its Directors of the Boards — charcuterie and entertaining experts and content creators who serve as ambassadors for Columbus Craft Meats, providing inspiration and education to their followers, the media and the public at large. We have been crunching quite a bit with innovations from the CORN NUTS® brand. The new perfect fit flavor, CORN NUTS® Mexican Street Corn flavor crunchy corn kernels, is inspired by elotes, a classic Mexican corn snack roasted and served right on the cob. The chili and citrus flavors pair perfectly with the distinct crunch of CORN NUTS® snacks and quickly became a favorite.
To pay homage to the delicious elotes that inspired the brand’s Mexican Street Corn innovation, CORN NUTS® achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for largest piñata featuring a massive display filled with CORN NUTS® products. Following two school visits last year, the Jennie-O team members hosted School Cafeteria Takeovers in Houston, Texas and Detroit, Mich. In addition, we welcomed Chef Carla for incredibly memorable visits to Austin High School and the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf.

Jennie-O is now in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest donation of turkeys in a 24-hour period. Working in collaboration with NBC’s TODAY, an astonishing 15,120 turkeys – tipping the scales at 320,450 pounds – were donated in a single day. Overall, we donated more than 20,000 birds this year, including teaming up with the Minnesota Wild pro hockey franchise to give 2,000 turkeys to families in need.
Steve Lykken, Jennie-O president and National Turkey Federation chairman, traveled to Washington, D.C., to present the National Thanksgiving Turkeys to the country’s commander-in-chief. President Biden exercised his executive power to pardon Liberty and Bell during the 76th National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation at the White House. The birds are now living out their days at the University of Minnesota, drawing attention to the importance of animal agriculture.
The Jennie-O float appeared for the fourth time in the celebrated Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, an extravaganza that winds its way through the streets of Manhattan. The glittered-covered turkey float featured hip-hop/R&B artist Paul Russell, known for his viral TikTok song and smash hit “Lil Boo Thang.”
