In addition to a $100,000 financial commitment, Hormel® Compleats® brand will provide product and coupons in two markets.
“We’re extremely proud to partner with Meals on Wheels America to help fight senior hunger,” said Jason Baskin, senior brand manager at Hormel Foods. “Meals on Wheels delivers warm, nutritious meals to homebound seniors, and Hormel® Compleats® can act as a supplement on evenings and weekends. They’re delicious, wholesome, satisfying and ready in the microwave in 60 seconds.”
The partnership with Meals on Wheels America builds on its longstanding commitment to addressing hunger. Hormel Foods Corporation collaborates with retailers, nonprofit organizations and government agencies to help with hunger relief efforts around the world. Through its programs as well as disaster relief efforts and other donations, Hormel Foods contributed $7.4 million in cash and product donations to help address hunger in fiscal year 2016.
“Meals on Wheels serves as a lifeline to millions of homebound seniors, supporting not only their nutritional needs, but also their connectedness to others,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO at Meals on Wheels America. “The Hormel® Compleats® partnership will support our national efforts to ensure that no senior is hungry, alone or forgotten, while also donating its products to support local communities.”
The Hormel® Compleats® brand will join Meals on Wheels America for two events in October to launch the partnership. On Thursday, Oct. 5, Hormel Foods employees will join representatives from Texas-based retailer, H-E-B, and Meals on Wheels to prepare and deliver meals in San Antonio, Texas. On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Hormel Foods employees will join Meals on Wheels for an exciting senior event at the Osceola Council on Aging in Kissimmee, Fla.
