Adoption fees for “Chili” and her puppies to be paid for by Hormel Foods

The makers of Hormel® chili, American’s iconic No. 1 selling chili brand, announced today that it is partnering with the Mower County Humane Society to pay the adoption fees for “Chili”, a yellow Labrador, and her six newly-born pups. Although Chili has been adopted into a good home, her puppies will be available for adoption as soon as they have been weened.

In addition to covering adoption fees for the dogs, the makers of Hormel® chili will donating $1,000 to the Mower County shelter and will be providing each canine with branded collars, T-shirts, dog toys and treats to enjoy. Also, in honor of National Pet Adoption Day, Hormel Foods will be covering all pet adoption fees up to $3,000 at the Mower County shelter on Saturday, May 2 from 10-11:30 a.m.

“The tie-in was just too perfect,” said Jason Baskin, Hormel Foods marketing director, Grocery Products. “As soon as we learned there was a dog at the Mower County shelter named Chili who was about to give birth, we knew we had to do something. Helping to find great homes for Chili’s puppies is the least we could do.”

The Mower County Humane Society, located at 101 22nd Street SE in Austin, is run entirely by volunteers. The group strives to take in homeless and stray dogs and cats and place them into responsible, lifelong homes. “We’re thankful for the help and generosity of Hormel Foods,” said Jay Lutz, president, Mower County Humane Society. “In addition to Chili’s puppies, we have many wonderful older dogs and cats at our shelter waiting to be adopted as well.”
