Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter
¼ cup chopped yellow onion
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup dry white wine
1½ cups turkey or chicken broth
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
2 liters chopped fresh sage leaves
Salt and pepper, if desired

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion. Cook for 7 to 9 minutes or until translucent. Whisk in flour. Cook 1 minute. Add wine. Cook 2 minutes, whisking constantly. Add broth, thyme and sage.

  2. Bring to boil, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.

  3. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
