Traditional grocery stores, once the undisputed champions of food shopping, are now sharing the spotlight with a variety retail contenders. A recent study* from the Hormel Foods Brand Fuel team digs into the world of consumer food shopping preferences and trends.

Grocery stores have been the trusted ally in the weekly challenge of feeding a family for ages, with a whopping 4 out of 5 consumers swearing by them in a recent survey*. As consumer needs are changing, club stores, discount food outlets and other alternatives have been building a following. Shoppers shared their preference for alternative formats ranging from discounts and shopping experience to product availability and channel exclusivity.
