Hormel Foods and Jennie-O partnered with Minnesota Vikings star wide-receiver Adam Thielen, as title sponsors for his inaugural youth football camp held at the Vikings new, state-of-the-art, TCO Performance Center.
More than 250 kids from around Minnesota spent four hours working with Thielen and other coaches on leadership skills, football skills and practice stations.
“I think the biggest thing for me with a camp like this is showing them that I’m just like them,” said Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver. “For me, it’s all about the love of the game.”
As title sponsors, Hormel Foods and Jennie-O provided product and coupons to all the kids and were able to send 25 Austin-area youth football players to the camp to participate and meet Thielen. The companies chartered a bus to bring the players from Austin to Eagan, Minn., to attend the camp.
“It’s the experience of a lifetime, these kids will never forget this moment,” said Brandon Lawhead, Austin Youth Football coach. “They will always remember this.”
“I thought it was really awesome, it was really cool with all these kids coming here,” said Emmanuel Jentzen, a 6th grade Austin area youth football player. “Adam Thielen…he’s a really good person.”
“I’m so appreciative of Hormel Foods and Jennie-O, they’ve done so much for me and my Foundation,” Thielen added. “Bringing a bus full of kids to my camp that maybe wouldn’t have had a chance to come to here without Hormel Foods and Jennie-O, I’m very excited about that.”
Proceeds from the camp benefitted the Thielen Foundation which focuses on helping underprivileged children reach their full potential.
