Jennie-O Chef Megan Hjelle and her sous chef, daughter Abigail, bring the best of several worlds together with this recipe for pizza burgers that feature SPAM® classic.

I’m going to freeze that for an extra meal.

Pizza Burgers

  • 1 (16-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Ground Turkey
  • 1 (12-ounce) can SPAM® Classic
  • 1 (15½-ounce) can spaghetti or marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/3 teaspoon sage
  • 8 hamburger buns, sliced in half
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Cheese for garnish, if desired

Instructions

Heat oven to 425°F. Cook turkey as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165ºF as measured by a meat thermometer. Dice or grind SPAM® Classic into ½-inch pieces. Add SPAM® Classic, spaghetti sauce, cheese, water, oregano and sage to skillet. Simmer over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until hot. Place each bun half, cut side up, on baking sheet. Spoon turkey mixture over each bun half. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until mixture is hot and buns are toasted. Garnish with additional cheese, if desired. Makes 16.
