From Their Table To Yours: Grilled Babyback Ribs

December 12, 2019

The Mensink family shares their recipe for Grilled Babyback Ribs

It’s not an easy profession, nor is it without its challenges, but as far as Dave Mensink is concerned, being a farmer is the best job in the world. His wife, Tracie, even calls it a blessing. They stand at the helm of Mensink Farms, a Preston, Minn., family business that produces livestock and crops for Hormel Foods – and just as often – for anyone who happens to stop by.

Hormel Foods is honored to stand side by side with the Mensinks and to share one of their family recipes with you.

Grilled Babyback Ribs

  • Hands-On Time

    10 minutes
  • Total Time

    2 1/2 hours
  • Serves

  • 2 packages HORMEL® ALWAYS TENDER® babyback ribs
  • 1/3 cup favorite barbeque rub*
  • as desired barbeque sauce

Heat one side of grill to 250°F. Rinse ribs and pat dry. Cut thin membrane from ribs. Using paper towel, slowly pull membrane from ribs. Cut ribs in half. Sprinkle halves with dry rub. Place ribs on unlit side of grill. Grill covered, turning every half hour, 2 to 2½ hours or until tender. Serve with barbecue sauce.

*The Mensinks use a local dry rub. Use your favorite or try combining 2 tablespoons chili powder, 1 tablespoon ground cumin, 2 teaspoons ground coriander, 2 teaspoons ground pepper, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, 2 teaspoons kosher salt and 1 teaspoon sugar.
