One of our international strategies is to provide savory, nutritious and accessible products for consumers with lower incomes. We do this by developing products that are tailored to meet basic local needs in emerging markets.

In addition, we specifically designed and developed SPAMMY®, a shelf-stable poultry product fortified with vitamins and minerals, to help malnourished children in Guatemala. The product is used as an ingredient and blends easily into customary diets. As part of a public/private partnership between the USDA’s McGovern-Dole program and Hormel Foods, the latest research demonstrated the benefits of supplementing traditional diets with micronutrients and high-quality protein.
