Our Community Investment Efforts

Inspired Giving

Through annual Inspired Giving spotlight charity campaigns and year-round team member giving, we matched the donations of our team members and retirees, supporting a wide array of causes that help strengthen our communities. In 2023, our team members raised over $70,000 for nonprofits, focusing on hunger relief and educational support.

SPAM® Brand Supports Maui

In response to the devastating 2023 wildfires on the island of Maui, Hormel Foods and the SPAM® brand team — whose special relationship with the Hawaiian community spans decades — sent resources to aid the disaster-relief efforts. In addition to donating cash and product with a retail value of $1 million, the SPAM® brand created “SPAM® Loves Maui” T-shirts, with 100% of proceeds donated to Aloha United Way’s Maui Fire Relief Fund.

10 Under 20 Food Heroes

Each year, 10 young change-makers and innovators are recognized as Hormel Foods 10 Under 20 Food Heroes. Connected by a passion for changing our food systems, these 10 Food Heroes under the age of 20 are eager to rally others to create meaningful change within their communities and shape the future in a positive way. Honorees gain access to resources and support, including mentorship, internship opportunities, executive advising meetings and other hands-on experiences. Meet our 2023 Food Heroes.

Free SPAM® Museum

For more than 30 years, our team members at the SPAM® Museum have been telling the world the success story of the SPAM® brand, our iconic brand that began in 1937. Though it is a national — and even international — destination, the admission-free museum is an irreplaceable part of the local community, providing history lessons, experiential education, a play area and interactive exhibits.

Crisis Assistance Relief Effort (CARE) Program

Our CARE Program is designed to help team members and their families in emergency or hardship situations. Scenarios such as needing emergency housing in the case of a house fire or funds to offset the cost of a funeral for an immediate family member are examples of when the CARE Program provides assistance. The CARE Program is funded primarily by donations from team members through annual fundraising campaigns initiated by team members.

Production Community Donations

Through our community plant donations program, each production facility donates $10,000 to organizations that uplift its communities. In 2023, we donated $360,000 to 46 local charities in our production communities.
