This Valentine’s Day, love is sweet, salty, savory and spicy, too #FoodisLove

Looking for a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Make it mini! We have taken a few of our favorite recipes and made them into bite-size treats that are perfect for staying in and sharing with your special someone(s), after all, food is love.

SKIPPY® Peanut Butter Sweethearts

    2 1/2 Dozen Cookies
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup SKIPPY® Creamy Peanut Butter Spread
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Assorted colored sugars, as desired
  • 30 milk chocolate hearts

Instructions

Heat oven to 350°F. In small bowl, combine flour and baking soda.

In large bowl, beat together peanut butter and butter until smooth. Beat in sugars, egg and vanilla until blended. Stir in flour mixture until blended. Shape dough into 30 balls.

Place colored sugars in small bowls. Roll dough balls in colored sugars and place 2-inches apart on parchment lined cookie sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Immediately press one chocolate heart in center of cookie. Remove to a wire rack. Cool completely.

Individual Heart-Shaped Pepperoni Pizzas

  • 1 pound pizza dough, divided into 4 balls
  • All-purpose flour, for dusting
  • 1/2 cup prepared pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella
  • 28 slices pepperoni, trimmed into heart shapes

Instructions

Place pizza stone on middle rack of oven. Heat oven to 500°F.

On lightly floured surface, stretch 1 ball of dough into a 6-inch round. Transfer the dough to floured pizza peel. Stretch dough to form a heart shape. Spread pizza sauce on dough in a thin layer. Sprinkle cheese over pizza sauce. Top with pepperoni heart slices.

Carefully slide the pizza onto preheated pizza stone. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. Let cool 1 to 2 minutes before slicing. Repeat to make 4 pizzas.

SPAM® Classic Musubi

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 (12-ounce) can SPAM® Classic cut into 8 slices
  • 2 teaspoons furikake, if desired
  • 3 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 3 sheets nori, cut in thirds

Instructions

In small bowl, combine soy sauce and sugar.

In large skillet over medium-high heat, cook SPAM® Classic slices 3 to 5 minutes or until browned. Add soy sauce sugar mixture, cook 1 to 2 minutes or until slices are glazed. Remove from pan.

Place rice into heart shaped cookie cutter on top of nori strip and press down. Sprinkle rice with furikake, if desired. Top with SPAM® Classic slice. Wrap with nori. (Save remaining nori strip for future use.) Moisten one end slightly to fasten together. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Ham and Jam Mini Hand Pies

  • 1 (14.1-ounce) package refrigerated pie dough
  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1 (8-ounce) package HORMEL® NATURAL CHOICE® Smoked Deli Ham
  • 1/2 cup raspberry jam
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

Heat oven to 425°F.

Unroll pie dough onto lightly floured surface. Roll dough into 12-inch rounds. With 4-inch heart shaped or square cutters cut each dough circle into 8 shapes (for a total of 16 shapes). Use smaller heart cutters to cut decorating shapes.

Place 8 shapes on parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Place 1 tablespoon cheese in center of each. Fold or cut to fit slices of ham leaving a ½-inch border around filling. Spread 1 teaspoon jam over ham.

In small bowl, whisk together egg and water. Brush edges of dough with egg mixture.

Place remaining 8 pie dough shapes over filling, pressing edges to seal. Using tines of fork, press edges. Decorate tops with additional pastry heart shapes. Brush tops with egg mixture.

Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until browned.

Pepperoni Roses and Hot Honey

  • 1/2 pound pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 (6-ounce) package HORMEL® pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup finely shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Hot honey, as desired

Instructions

Heat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place pizza dough on lightly floured surface. Roll into 12x 8-inch rectangle. Cut rectangle in half crosswise. Cut dough into 1-inch wide strips. Spoon pizza sauce over each dough strip. Overlap pepperoni slices across each dough strip and top with cheese.

Roll each strip into a loose coil; place each coil, pepperoni side up, in muffin cup. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.

Remove from muffin pan. Drizzle with hot honey, as desired.

SPAM® Valentine Egg in a Heart

  • 1 (12-ounce) can SPAM® Classic, cut into 4 slices
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 4 eggs
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

With 2-1/2 -inch heart cutter, cut out a heart in the center of each slice of SPAM® Classic.

In large skillet over medium heat, cook SPAM® Classic slices and heart shapes in oil 2 to 3 minutes. Flip slices and hearts over. Crack an egg into the center of each slice. Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until eggs are cooked to desired doneness. Sprinkle with pepper.
